And how cool is this – I never have time to take pictures of families on the Swan Boats, but the shoot that I had scheduled just after these guys had to move to later in the day, so I had a half hour free after their shoot was done.  So I got to follow them around the pond – love this one :)

Working with light like Saturday’s is a treat and a pleasure.  As is this little guy:

Ok, I’ll get back to the black and white/color discussion in a minute, but first I should introduce these guys.  You might recognize them from YEARS ago when I took pictures of little N inside her mama’s tummy.  But now they’re headed to Beijing on a family adventure, and we needed to document their tree-climbing ways and their fun here in Massachusetts before they left.

And boy are they tree climbers!

And joyful, wonderful fun people.  Great to see you guys again.  Have a fantastic adventure overseas!

And without further ado, I show you the reason that I shoot in color and show all the photos to my clients in both b&w and color.  Because once in a while there’s a photo that just HAS to be in color.  It has to be. It just HAS to be.

So this is what I mean by the stories the pictures tell.  We start with the more posed, classic blocks picture:

And then we get the real-life moment – as every parent knows, what playing with blocks with two kids ultimately devolves into…

But they’re also just incredibly sweet, cuddly boys, loving good books with mama.

Bubble machines make FUN pictures :)

Wheee!!

But this one makes me giggle so much – Mom and Dad just having a moment of being amused/overwhelmed by the crazy energy of their fantastic boys:

Here’s the whole crew, running down Boylston Street.  Kind of amazing in a picture like this when all the faces are smiling – love it.

Then we settled on a bench on the Commonwealth Mall – I love the interactions in this picture, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents.

When you do something silly off a bench in the Public Garden with five siblings – the majority of whom are teenagers – we have one chance.  Can’t be crazy and embarrassing over and over the way you can with little guys.  Luckily this one worked the first time!

What a gorgeous crew.

And these guys had the best plan – a whoopee cushion behind me.  The BEST smiles :)
