Big brother H I got to meet when he was a mere 12 hours old, but this time I had to wait a few days to meet new sister L – my vacation schedule got in the way :(
But doing it after these guys got home from the hospital was even better – light is prettier at home, and we got so many sweet pictures. And I’m happy to welcome them to the elite club I like to call “two under two”. They join some other fabulous families – and even though big H is turning 2 in just a couple of weeks, I think it’s exciting to mention that they’re part of this cool crew.

Both sets of grandparents in the same place at the same time? Must be documented.
Love love love you all. Truly my extended family, and I was honored to document the beginning of your family-of-fourness.

Welcome, darling, darling girl. We love you, and my girls can’t wait to make mischief with you and your big wonderful brother. And how, oh how, did I walk out of the house without a new baby snuggle? That’s the best part of my friends having babies – I usually remember to put down the camera and get some baby time – but I think the heat of the day and the excitement of meeting this sweet lady got the better of me and I stayed in standard work mode and totally forgot to get my snuggle. We must see you another time very soon! xo

I have a special place in my heart for sisters who are five years older than their little new sisters. I am the big sister in this same arrangement in my family, and I have these really strong memories of my parents bringing home a little monkey-like being from the hospital… so every time I meet a family like this, I am excited for the girls to be best friends some day and have these pictures to look back on.

These toes look small when you think this is mama’s hand. When you realize it’s big sister K’s hand, the toes all of a sudden are teeeeeeenie!

Just about two weeks ago, I got to visit this little sweet boy (he was just 9 days old when we shot the photos). He was the most content, calm, snoozy little guy while I was there, it got to be almost comical. When parents ask me “How long should we allow for the photoshoot?”, my answer is always “Well, the kids will probably be done with me after about 45 minutes. Sometimes we go a bit longer, so it’s good to plan on an hour, but 45 minutes is usually just about right. Unless you have a newborn who naps through the photos, in which case we can go longer, an hour and a half, sometimes two hours…”
Well, this guy took sleepyness to a new level. He’d had a good warm tub and a nice bottle before I got there, so he was cozy and ready to relax. His parents cuddled and smushed and loved him a ton through the two hours I was there, and we had just one little eye peek at about the 118 minute mark ;)
But you know what? It didn’t even matter. I love the photos we got – I love these parents and their adoration for their boy. The whole house was just overflowing with this relaxed, loving feeling. It was a pleasure to spend time there.

Perfect tiny toes.

This teddy bear looked like he was watching over baby I as he slept:

This looks so comfortable to me right now:

So happy in Daddy’s arms:

Content.

Nose-to-nose with mama:

I dare you not to look at this for a minute… and try not to…
Y-A-W-N

A milisecond of the eyes opening… he checked us out, was OK with everything that was going on in the room, and…

…was out again.

I love this kind of picture, as families start new lives in new houses, and I get to take a picture before all the furniture is in the room, before it becomes what it will become. Just as the moment that these guys are stepping into that next stage of life… Ready? Set? Go. This next part’s awesome.

My photographic style often has me really close up to some pretty beautiful little people. I love being close, capturing those moments as the sneeze happens, as the yawn crests…
But once in a while I see something happening and I have to step way back. And sometimes that works really well.

This is that same shot close up, in my standard style. Mama and her four week old sweet S. Can’t tell which of these two photos I like better. Two beautiful ladies in both :)

And S’s mama wasn’t sure about the tutu, but I loved it – and luckily, so did S!

Those perfect toes:

Mirroring faces with dad:

Holding Dad’s finger:

And taking a moment to wail:

So wonderful to meet you guys!

I got to visit my college roommate and one of my oldest and dearest friends today, and meet her new sweet Kay, at just 8 days old. I must go downstairs and paint my guestroom (long story, but guests arrive Friday and there’s way too much to do), but before I do, I had to quickly post one picture to get you excited to see the rest of the photos of Lady Kay.
This one’s just a little teaser…
Not sure this moment could be more perfect.
I love you guys!

This morning I had my last photoshoot of the decade. It’s been an amazing 7 1/2 years of baby photography, and where better to end the decade than with a beautiful four day old little lady? I was so happy to get to meet her this morning!
Here she is with her big brother T, who was so sweet and loving with her:

Such alert, beautiful eyes!

And Daddy gave big brother T a lift on his shoulders:

A little mommy/daddy/sweet girl time… I love her expression here!

I think this one has the nicest expressions between mama and her girl:

And a quick snooze mid-shoot always helps:

Family hug:

And a Pippi squeeze:

I like this with the whole family plus Pippi having a giggle:

Wonderful to see you guys today – thank you for having me over. I’ll send all the rest of your photos ASAP for cards!

I’m smack dab in the middle of editing a newborn session from this past weekend, and I had to quickly post this one because it’s too perfect.
Doesn’t baby S know she’s not supposed to be grinning for a few more weeks? She’s way ahead of the game…

Patience is a virtue, they say, and these guys’ momma has it in spades! I promised her these photos days ago, and then life got in the way and here it is Friday. But I am so happy with these, I hope you guys are, too. After getting a chance to meet each of the boys for newborn pictures over the years, I was thrilled to get a chance to meet their new sister.
This first one is my favorite. I am in love with all the expressions!

And this next one makes me want to have a third child and get someone to take this picture of my family for me. I love the train book, and the hilarious look on sweet baby I’s face as she ignores her brother’s favorite book :)

Pretty girl and her momma:

Belly laughs:

And F has gotten so big all of a sudden, it’s amazing.

Gorgeous, gorgeous. Thanks again for your patience!

I walked in the door of this family’s house last weekend and big brother S was begging his dad, asking if he could hold his brother. Almost before I could drop to my knees, toss the camera bag to the side of the room, lift the camera to my eye, these guys were just sitting together, being adorable.

I love this – a big brother’s smooch:

And of course, if Grandma and Grandpa are visiting when I’m there, we have to grab a multi-generational picture:

And a beloved aunt pic, too :)

Thanks to our mild November weather, we even slipped outside for a few pictures with the little guy:

The boys had some fun lying around, too:

Here’s my favorite one of big brother alone:

And sweet baby brother alone:

This is such a sweet sleepy one, I love how quiet and close up it is:

It was great to meet you guys, thanks so much for having me!

At 8:15am a couple of Saturdays ago I sent out an email to my waiting list letting them know my 11am appointment had just cancelled due to illness… and this fast typing mama replied right away. She had all FOUR of her munchkins ready for pictures less than 3 hours later. I think that might be a world record :)
Not only were they adorable, they had tons of fun with their parents:

Running around outside:

The newest addition, handsome G:

Sweet W:

Lovely R:

And beautiful C:

All four in a pile :) Great fun getting to know you guys. Can’t wait to catch up with you another time!

A perfect round little munchkin met me at the door when I arrived for our shoot this weekend – look at these incredible toes and fingers!

And a great tongue :)

He loved playing with his mom and dad:

And mirrored dad so cutely here:

A smooch from his mama:
 And giggles with her, too:
 So very handsome.

And even in the land of the perfect photoshoots, sometimes photos like this…

Lead to photos like this (oops! yes, that’s spitup):

So great to meet you guys!

This little sweet boy did so well on his picture day – he loved playing with his mom and dad:

And cuddling in his dad’s arms (isn’t he gorgeous?)

And mom’s arms, too, of course:

He got a little hungry at one point, and gave me the very best pout:

But once he got his point across, got his bottle and some rocking from dad…
Had himself a burp on dad’s shoulder:
All was right with the world. Those perfect little fingers wrapped around dad’s just make me smile. Wonderful to meet you guys!

I love maternity sessions that I get to do just before a baby’s born, and then come back mere weeks later to meet a new perfect bundle! This gorgeous boy was born just two weeks before I met him last week, and although when I was visiting he hadn’t been sleeping much for his parents, I think he must have just been busy being a sweet perfect boy at all hours for them ;)

Love the tiny tiny legs:

Sweet cuddle:

With his doting dad:

Holding his mom’s thumb:

Looking longingly into mama’s eyes:

So you’d never know in this 2nd shot that it was pouring rain out, would you? These guys were such good sports to plop right now on the stairs to recreate their maternity shot from a few weeks before… and then toss me their umbrella at the last second. You thought teenie boy T was squinting his eyes because he was sleeping? No, just avoiding the rain in his eyes :)

Aren’t four year old big bro K and 2 year old big sis F doing a great job holding teenie little E?

and then, of course, a yawn and a zerbert:

These guys were so wonderfully active during the shoot (and all the time, I’m sure). I love that you can almost hear them both talking in this one, while baby E snoozes away. The benefits of being #3 – you can sleep through anything!

Giggles and a great smile:

Both big girl F and big boy K have those deep, rich, dark brown eyes I just love:

Sweet baby E was only 3 weeks old:

This one looks like one of those Boston Globe Magazine photos that tells a story, doesn’t it? I love the perspective, and K peering out the window, hoping to be released soon :)

See what I mean about those big beautiful brown eyes?

And of course when you have the whole family at the beach house, you kind of need to do a few group shots, especially when one part of the family is moving to Beijing momentarily!
It was a pleasure meeting the whole gang, and I hope the move goes smoothly :)

Sweet N was 12 weeks old at our photoshoot in late August, and (again) I got excited because she was just about the same age as my new baby girl. I always love it when children’s ages match up with mine… and beautiful N was no exception.

Gnawing on her hands:

Giving sweet smiles to the camera with dad:

Aren’t her knuckles and wrinkley little hands the best, as she holds her mama’s hands?

And a whole family of toes: (great idea Holly!)

As she snacks a bit, we took some more time with toes:

Lovely bright eyes:

And just like my girlie, she’s chewing like a champion already! Wonderful to meet you guys.
