What a loving big 2 1/2 year old brother!

He just loved playing with her:

I love the sun pattern on the pillow here, and her perfect rolls and hands clasped under her chin :)

Such a handsome dude:

Had to grab a pic of just mama and her munchkins:

Daddy and his big boy got some time to check out the trash truck…

And Mama got some sweet girl time:

Wonderful to see you guys in your new (ok, maybe not so new anymore…) place!

It feels like it’s been a while since I took pictures of sisters (I’ve been in brothers mode for a few weeks), and I have to say I adored these guys last weekend. Even though it was a rainy New England spring day, we had loads of fun playing inside. Little sister O was born when big sister H was just a week shy of being 2 years old, so even though they’re not “two under two” anymore, they can still have membership in my elite club :)
This one cracks me up to no end.

This next shot just hollers mama with her two sweethearts to me – as O goes up in the air and H rolls around on the couch. The energy in the whole picture is just so cool.

Don’t you love O’s hand on H’s cheek?

More energy…

Loved getting to know you guys!

When I first arrived to see these two brothers last weekend, almost 3 month old Z was exhausted. But that meant we got this picture, which I am just in love with… (avoiding ending my sentence with a preposition by using ellipses… my middle school grammar teacher would be horrified)

But then when he perked up, big (almost 3 year old) brother J insisted on sharing his favorite Fire Truck book:

A few of just the big man first, as he concentrates 0n his car:

Leaping into a pile of pillows:

Or tossing a friend into the fray:

And now, introducing Z:

Daddy, look at ME :)

Great to see you guys again!

And for me, of all the fantastic expressions, this one takes the cake – eyebrow raise/splayed fingers and extra arm/leg rolls and all :)

But actually, the whole shoot was full of awesome expressions:

See what I mean?

But J seemed nonplussed when presented with Dad’s tongue…

But he was easily won over.

I just love this pensive profile:

WIth his lovely mama:

And then some knuckle dimples…

His mom’s necklace was his favorite:

It was wonderful to meet you guys, thanks so much for having me out!

I mean, sometimes books are just so good, I know – I totally DEVOUR them too. For sweet 7 month old girl L, Margaret Wise Brown’s Goodnight Moon is one of those books.

Isn’t she a beauty?

Shhh, daddy!

Love the tongue here :)

Great getting to know you guys!

When this little beauty’s mama emailed me about her photoshoot, she warned me that her daughter (and I’m quoting here) “has a ton, and I mean a ton, of hair ;)”
I loved it. She’s gorgeous, and the hair is fabulous.

We started off with barrettes to tame it – that looked great too:

But at a certain point we just had to go for it :)

Those toes need a lick…

And I was JUST talking about Sophie the giraffe with someone recently – a universal fave:

Kind of her to lift her foot to leave a spot for the logo, don’t you think?

And I just love this mama girlie pic:

Wonderful to meet you guys, thanks for having me out!

We found him! The winner of every imaginable eyelash-length contest out there. And to think he lived here in Boston, all this time :) I loved getting to know little six month old R yesterday. Even though he’d kept his parents up all night the night before – he did wonderfully in his pictures! But don’t take my word for it…

His favorite place is his changing table – you can even catch sight of the eyelashes in this one ;)

Isn’t he handsome?

Hollering with Dad:

I love how his eyes twinkle in this one as he looks off at his mama.

And then there comes a time when… we’re done. But you did such a great job, R!

Irving Berlin said it, my mom and her three sisters joke about it… and these four reminded me of that quote so much. They were quick to giggle and enjoy each other – such a pleasure to be around.

The progression from this shot…

To this one cracks me up so much :)

I should take you down the line. #1:

If memory serves (and Kristen, correct me if I’m wrong) in 1986, these cuties’ fun blonde mama and I were in a critically acclaimed elementary school production of Sound of Music together. Now it’s 25 (???!!!) years later and I got a chance to meet her fun blonde munchkins last weekend. It was wonderful from start to finish.
Moments of crazy,

mixed with quiet…

Love this – check HIM out :)

LOVED seeing you again! Keep in touch :)

I’m back! After about six weeks of a blogging hiatus (so sorry to those 26 families from late November and December – I just couldn’t blog during that crazy season), the rush is over, and the calm, lovely January-March shoots begin. This is the quiet season for people like me. It’s too cold to take those tiny babies outside, and every year I have this nice quiet wintertime… one or two shoots a week to keep me busy, but not too many. I get lots of time to be a mom this time of year – and I have to admit I adore it.
But when I do shoot, it’s creatively so much fun! Everybody’s relaxed, and we get to do things like explore cute new belly buttons…

And chew on noses :)

Three handsome boys! The eldest:

The middle:

And the babe:

Wonderful to meet you guys. Happy New Year!

Tomorrow would mark three weeks since I last posted on the blog – had to quick get this one up before we hit the 3 week mark, lest you think I’ve been resting on my laurels this summer. I’ve been lucky enough to take some time with my girls in the past few weeks. I’ve been shooting a bit, here and there as childcare allows… but I hoarded my own babies for a few weeks of relaxing at the pool, and when throughout the year my weekends are usually booked with photoshoots, over the past few weeks I even got to take time to do some rare weekend celebrating with grownups (35 birthdays, bridal showers, bachelorette parties)…
But now for those here-and-there families who’ve been so patient waiting for their pictures. Over the next few days I am in final edits for six recent sessions. Here’s the first. Thanks for your patience, guys!
Here’s my #1 most favorite, perfect one.

The girls.

And brotha.

Showing me a missing tooth.

Loving mama’s reading style.

I like all three interested in this one:

The funky turquoise bracelet here brings to mind mom’s own mom’s ring, from photos of hers from childhood. The idea makes me happy.

Hehe.

Got to come back and see these boys again last weekend, and the two older brothers had been joined by a third. This one of the three of them cracks me up – I feel like it tells such a story :)

We’ll start in the middle, with sweet brother A:

And littlest handsome brother C:

And last but not least, I love this one of big cool brother O:

And littlest brother C gets an upside-down ride from dad:

And a giggle with mom:

And even though big brother O is the oldest brother, I love how little he looks here, reading:

Thinking mama is hilarious:

And this is by far my favorite shot of the day – as the guys get going on their chocolate chip cookie dough, but are stymied by the hard chunks of unsoftened butter:

But it all turned out OK – the whole fam got in on the dough-nibbling action:

Wonderful to see you guys again!

I think Kathy (mom in this family) gets the prize for most patient waiting list family. She was on the waiting list for what felt like forever this fall, and kept trying to get appointments whenever I had a cancellation. She was always my 2nd or 3rd reply when I’d send out the “there’s a spot available” emails… always just barely missed it. And then when we had a shoot booked back in November, her boys got sick the night before… it just felt like it wasn’t in the cards this season.
But then the stars aligned and I was able to shoot their family this past weekend. This tree shot is making me smile – looks like everyone’s giving a good holler:

And when you’re the middle brother, your picture doesn’t often come first – but this one is killing me…

And sweet baby B:

Handsome big brother P – who seems to have grown up overnight. I’ve known him since he was a wee one, and oh my gosh: huge. Not to mention the best cowlick ever.

Isn’t O’s expression (including dimple) as he looks over at P the best?

Mom and her baby:

Totally unprompted, O wanted to help give B his bottle.

I love this as a wall hanging, big… tootsies!

It was wonderful to see you guys again.

Oh, and as I was headed to my next shoot, I had to jump out of the car and grab this shot. The road looked so incredible with the snow stuck to the tree branches as they made a little tunnel…

Mmmm – what’s better than a little yummy toe to nibble?

Handsome 6 month old R is the same age as my Sadie :)

Peering out the window over Dad’s shoulder:

Getting some help from mom with the sitting up skills:

And a perfect dimpled hand next to mama’s beautiful one (loving the rolls in the background):

I love these two profiles together, and R’s toes straight up:

Playing on the bed:

“If only I could reach it… reach… stretch…”

What a delight to meet you guys! Thanks for a great shoot. More to come!

These guys are 10 months old and full of energy! Their parents got a gift certificate a while back and decided to use it now, in time for the holidays.

I wasn’t sure I could tell them apart, but after working on their pictures, I think I’ve got it now. Pretty proud of myself :)

Knuckles with dimples are my very favorite.

And they didn’t want to be shirtless. It was incredible to see how similar their upset times where… they were completely in sync. Tough for their hard working parents – but amazing to see.

And the same position calmed both of them down. Isn’t it amazing?

It was a treat meeting you all – thanks for having me!
