The whole crew together for Thanksgiving

Sometimes it’s grandmothers who call me to book photoshoots, and often times those shoots happen around the holidays, when their families are together.  It’s always mayhem, and I can almost guarantee someone will cry… but that’s what it’s all about, right? Capturing the insanity? Because why have two handsome sons if you can’t document a piece of the crazy lives they’re living with their 7, 4, 4 and 2 yr old kiddos?

So I’ll get you situated with the big group shot first.  Here’s our handsome crew.

And one of all the grandkids with their grandparents:

And now, so you don’t get confused, I’ll go big brother’s family first:

And then I’ll do little brother’s family next:

And I have to include this “outtake” one — it cracks me up — with bow off kilter and tongue out :)

All thanks to these two.  Celebrating a big anniversary this year!  Congrats, guys.

P.S. These kind of shoots are what I call “a bunch of families together” in my pricing calculator, in case you’re curious. They can run a bit longer than my usual 45 minutes-1 hour.  I think I stayed with these guys for about 90 minutes.  But it’s nice because each individual family in the group ends up with photos for holiday cards, etc.

The first of the next generation

Over Thanksgiving weekend, this sweet 4 1/2 month old guy had a huge crowd around – lucky guy. But first he got to get some pictures with just his mom and dad:

With mom and dad:

And with his grandparents:

And the whole team:

Wonderful to see you guys!  It’s exhausting being the star of the show.

Happy Christening!

Instead of coming for this guy’s actual Christening, we met the day before with all his extended family for some photos.

But before I get into the formal shots, I just love this one.  This is big boy S, in one of his favorite positions, upside-down over his dad’s shoulders.  I had to shoot from way down low to get this awesome expression, but I love it so much.

I’ll go back a bit – I first got to meet this guy upstairs after his nap, while the extended family came together downstairs.

One set of grandparents was there…

And the other set, too.  What a lucky guy :)

We even had a bit of time with his cousins:

Here’s the whole crew from one side:

And then the crew from the other side, too:

Rose deliciousness (look at those tootsies):

Wonderful to meet you guys!

Curly girl

The last time I saw this big girl Z she didn’t have hair, and now she has a gorgeous curly top of rings:

These guys all met me in the Boston Public Garden for my mini-shoot day.  They were my 11th shoot of the day, and their priority for their 20 minute session was that they wanted a great family shot with all seven adults and one sweet one year old:

But I couldn’t just do that… had to get a few others.  You know me.  Here’s Z and grandma playing at the water fountain:

A big girl tickle with mom and dad:

And showing off her mad walking skills!  So fun to see you guys, thanks for coming out and for supporting the Ashmont Nursery School charity day!

Many generations, many grins

Look at all these handsome guys! I met up with this wonderful family for the 2nd year in a row at a house they were renting on Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester, and this year they had tons of extended family visiting. Three generations of men, first:

How fabulous. I especially love the ones of the three of them on the beach and how their happiness shines through – what great moments to capture. The ones with the three boys are priceless too.

Three cousins turn one

A couple of weeks ago, three cousins, all with birthdays a few weeks from each other, turned one.  I’ve said it before, but I find that birthday parties are best photographed in color.  So although I usually love b&w best… here are some color party shots.  The families enjoyed some delicious food:

And they were lucky enough to kick off their 2nd year of life with some of the most gorgeous cupcakes I’ve ever seen! (And I just found out their mom is a pro – here’s a link to her cupcake company.)

And then the three birthday cuties enjoyed their cupcakes:

Fun Baby Naming Festivities

I’ve been taking pictures of these guys for a couple of years now, and I was honored to be asked to take photos at their youngest daughter’s Baby Naming on the Cape last weekend. As I’ve mentioned before, I find that childrens’ parties just cry out for color photos – hence the color shots you see here. Little B was an absolute dream for the whole party:

Her big brother J tried out the waterslide before the rest of the revelers arrived:

It’s really impossible not to get fantastic pictures at a really fun party like this!

The Magnificent Seven

Last Friday I spent an hour or so with these three 2 year olds, one 3 year old, two 4 year olds and a 5 year old. These cousins had come together from all around the country for the first time ever, and I got to be there to memorialize it.

We got some great individual shots of all the kids as they ran like crazy around the back yard:

But the moment of brilliance came when the parents brought out a sprinkler. What else do you do on an 80 degree August morning with seven kids who want to run around? Let them! You know what they say. Just add water.

Because even two year olds love a sprinkler:

And five year olds too.

I’ll send you an email when they’re all ready – very soon!

Baptism and fun on the Cape

9 month old twins A and S were baptized on the Cape last weekend, and I visited the next day to get some photos of them with their cousins at their grandparents’ house. Their older brother C is my daughter Annie’s age – and I’ve been taking his picture since he was tiny. Thanks to his grandma for the first photoshoot gift certificate years ago!

And their cousins, J and C (top and right) are nearly 9 year old twins, and their little brother W, who’s nearly five:

And the third family of cousins (children clockwise from top R) six year old N, 6 month old R, nine year old H and three year old T:

And Grandma and Grandpa with their baby, Gus:

And after we’d finished up all those family shots, we got to have some fun with the kids. Here’s three year old T again:

Four cousins and a hose

I am such a huge fan of the perfect belly on 15 month old E on the right… also his “I’m not so sure about this hose thing” face:

Here are the four cousins in a nice row, from left to right, A, who’s 15 months old, E, who’s almost 2, and then A, who’s 5 years old and last but not least, M, who’s 3 years old.

Don’t they make a handsome group?

A new baby to join the big crew

This lovely grandma called me last week to see if I happened to have any times available over the weekend for photos. Her whole family was going to be in town, and she wanted to get all sorts of photos of them. I’d had a cancellation, which meant I got to come to her house on Saturday. Here’s her newest grandson, 8 day old B – with his beautiful mom.

And the four generations together – so sweet. It was great meeting you all. I’ll have your photos ready for you as soon as I can. Happy 4th!

Happy (Belated) National Siblings Day!

Well as I was pulling the photos from yesterday’s big family session off my camera and putting them on my computer, I had a TiVo’d Oprah playing in the background. Lo and behold, she was celebrating National Siblings Day on her show, and here I was looking at pictures with soooo many siblings in them. I was so excited until I realized Oprah was a repeat. From April. Oh come on! Wouldn’t that have been perfect?

Nevermind. :)

I spent the late morning yesterday with these guys – two brothers and a sister with their respective families. One of the brothers was visiting with his family from India, so they were excited to grab some cousin pictures while he was in town. If you’ve visited my blog or website before, you probably know that I sometimes think it’s a little boring to have everyone looking at the camera at the same time. Luckily, the kids are usually on my side and help me out by distracting their parents (and aunts and uncles). Here’s my favorite group shot:

For a moment they were even all interested in the same book:

I love how they’re all doing their own thing here:

Here’s one family of four, L and O with their parents:

And last but most certainly not least, A and C with their parents and their pup. It was great getting to see/meet you guys. All your photos will be ready by the end of the week.

A Colorful 1st Birthday

If you’ve visited the blog before, or if you know my style of photography, you might be wondering why the photos on this post are color. As you might have guessed, I’m a huge black and white fan… it’s kind of my thing. But when people hire me to come to their events – baptisms, birthday parties, etc., I like to show them the photos in color, too. Color is just such a big part of these kind of celebrations, and it’s fun to think about photos in a different way when I shoot color.

So, as you might be able to guess, I spent Sunday morning at a fantastic 1st birthday party – everyone had tons of fun. I’ve been taking pictures of this family for years now, and I was honored to have been asked to join them at this rockin’ celebration.

The kids got a kick out of all the entertainment… not to mention the blocks table, the playdoh table, the candy necklace table… I tell you, it was really fun!

And the food was enjoyed by all:

And last but not least, the whole crew blowing out the candle.

There are tons of photos I still need to go through from the party, so it’ll be late next week before I finish them all up for you, but I’ll let you know as soon as they’re ready.

Thanks so much for including me, I loved being part of your celebration, and can’t wait to show you all the pictures!

Lila Guide Launch Party

This past weekend I was the LilaGuide.com Launch Party’s photographer at Together in Motion in Arlington. It was a fun event, with goodie bags for all. The LilaGuide.com is an online resource for moms; a “word-of-mouth survival guide for Boston”.

The kids all had a blast running around in Together in Motion‘s indoor playspace (it’s a great place to play if you’re near Arlington!).
