Mmmm – what’s better than a little yummy toe to nibble?

Handsome 6 month old R is the same age as my Sadie :)

Peering out the window over Dad’s shoulder:

Getting some help from mom with the sitting up skills:

And a perfect dimpled hand next to mama’s beautiful one (loving the rolls in the background):

I love these two profiles together, and R’s toes straight up:

Playing on the bed:

“If only I could reach it… reach… stretch…”

What a delight to meet you guys! Thanks for a great shoot. More to come!

I was excited that these guys nabbed the 9am waiting list spot on Sunday morning when it became available at the last minute – I’ve been taking pictures of their family since their 6 year old son A was only 5 months old! I couldn’t imagine a holiday season without them.
Four year old L was all about the kisses… receiving them from her mama:

Planting them on her dad:

And threatening her brother with them. Don’t you love his expression here? Um, I don’t know about this…

When I noticed how much these guys looked alike in this shot, I had to post them side-by-side. Siblings much?

A nice moment with mom:

And a photoshoot isn’t complete without some upside-down grins:

Look at those legs on both of them! When did you guys get so BIG?

Big boy:

And as we were walking back to our cars at the end of the shoot – me with lens cap attached to the camera… big girl L noticed a great picture spot, and she and her brother ran for it. I followed dutifully, and look at that. She was right. She has a great eye! (Well, two of them, actually.)

Great to see you guys as always.

A perfect round little munchkin met me at the door when I arrived for our shoot this weekend – look at these incredible toes and fingers!

And a great tongue :)

He loved playing with his mom and dad:

And mirrored dad so cutely here:

A smooch from his mama:
 And giggles with her, too:
 So very handsome.

And even in the land of the perfect photoshoots, sometimes photos like this…

Lead to photos like this (oops! yes, that’s spitup):

So great to meet you guys!

Sweet N was 12 weeks old at our photoshoot in late August, and (again) I got excited because she was just about the same age as my new baby girl. I always love it when children’s ages match up with mine… and beautiful N was no exception.

Gnawing on her hands:

Giving sweet smiles to the camera with dad:

Aren’t her knuckles and wrinkley little hands the best, as she holds her mama’s hands?

And a whole family of toes: (great idea Holly!)

As she snacks a bit, we took some more time with toes:

Lovely bright eyes:

And just like my girlie, she’s chewing like a champion already! Wonderful to meet you guys.

Thanks to Jury Duty and my trusty laptop, I got to work on these sweet pictures this morning (thank heavens for grandmas who watch my girlies)… And no worries, I was excused (the judge took pity on me when I explained that I have a nursing baby at home), so no delays on people’s pictures!
Little baby R had the teeniest little toes – look at ‘em: Aren’t they adorable?

And she apparently already had a sense of humor:

We caught a few smiles:

Some loving daddy time:

And some loving mama time:

I love how her little eyes are squinched up in this one. Don’t worry, sweetheart!

She was just so alert and lovely – it was a pleasure to get to spend time with her!

Last Saturday I had three newborn shoots in a row – this was my 3rd one of the day. I love little patterns in my schedule… and before I tell you about this wonderful family, I had to share. (You can scroll down the blog to see the other two newborns from that day.) So my first shoot was with a two week old baby, and there were two children in the family. Then my second shoot was with a three week old baby, and there were three children in the family. And now this last shoot of the day was a ten day old baby, (no… they didn’t have ten children!) but if I round down to one week, they fit my little pattern because just had one baby in their family. OK, too much talk, not enough pictures. Sorry :)
These guys were given a gift certificate for their first shoot by a great friend (a.k.a. Auntie Kath), and I’m so excited to show them all the pictures! Here’s a toesie kiss. Look at those tiny legs!

And cradled in dad’s bicep, showing off his own bicep :)

Gesundheit!

Beautiful, all around.

And I always know when I’m in a mellow dog family when they let their pup (the first baby) give the new baby smooches. Now that’s true love.

I love how tiny he looks here on the bed, legs crossed:

And that startle reflex that goes away so quickly! Glad we caught it here.

Handsome dude.

See that Dad is holding the binkie in this shot? Can you just hear the *POP* noise it made as it was extracted from C’s mouth?

So great to meet you guys. Hope to see you again soon! Thanks again, Auntie Kath!

This is the third time I’ve visited this family when a child of theirs is 3 weeks old. And she was a charm! How cool to see their babies at this exact stage, one after another. This time I met their first girl, baby J, while her two older brothers went off to a water park with their dad. I missed seeing them, but of course I understood the lure of the park…
Strong neck, as she peeks at her mama:

And smiling already! Obviously brilliant.

We have this same picture of one (if not both) of her brothers. Had to snap the yawn again.

And we always do bath pictures in the sink with these guys… some of my favorite moments with little ones are when they’re getting bathed.

Reacting to mom:

And again with the neck control!

Jess – I think this is my favorite picture I’ve had of you from all the shoots – you just look so serene and calm here. Must be that mom-ming of 3 suits you. :)

And the two happy girls…
So incredible to get to share this time with you guys again. I hope the move plans have come together, and that you’ll come back to Boston someday for #4′s pictures!

I went to college with both the mom and the dad in this family, and I was so excited to finally meet their three beautiful children last week. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to meet them! Here’s the gorgeous baby A with her pretty momma:

All three cutie pies together:

And I love this family moment – it’s so real and active. These guys had such energy… and I feel like this photo really shows it.

Here’s daddy with his baby girl:

And Daddy with his boys on the swings:

But give a hose to a three year old, and he WILL attack you.

No question a five year old will too. :) It was so fun seeing you guys! I loved our shoot and can’t wait to show you the rest of the photos.

Now that I have another baby, shoots like this one with a fun, gorgeous 6 month old make me so excited to go through these ages/stages again with my own girlie. I loved this moment with sweet boy B and his mom. They’re making exactly the same expression!

And a mellow, serious dude:

Loving playing with his mom and dad:

I really love the framing of this one – how you can see mom and dad both smiling, but the cutie pie is the focus – ready to gobble up his toy!

Handsome smiling devil :)

Getting a zerbert from dad:

His eyelashes (and I’m stealing this quote from his parents, because it’s so great) were the “longest hairs on him”! Gorgeous whisk brooms.

And we had to capture a moment with their darling dachshund Hercules – 16 years old! Wonderful to spend time with you guys the other day, thanks so much for having me out. Say hi and thanks to Kathy for me for getting you guys the gift certificate!

“If you’ve ever kissed a baby you know that once is never enough. It just isn’t. No one could possibly be satisfied with just one kiss unless they’re a politician in a hurry. Babies have special powers; babies could get me to sign up for a pyramid scheme just waving their soft skin and pudge in front of me. And one thing’s for sure, I love to kiss my babies. The first kiss is just a “Hello, where are you especially delicious right now?” kiss, hunting around, figuring out where could possibly top yesterday’s or this morning’s delicious spot, and then there. There it is. Sometimes it takes some tilting and lifting of limbs on your part, but the perfect spots are there for the taking. My favorite spot is what my mother calls “The Goosemeats” (one of those odd terms you know is centuries old). The Goosemeats are found in the folds of the neck, directly below the ear. You know that spot. It makes baby giggle like no other spot and it’s warm as toast. When you’ve discovered The Goosemeats you’ve created a standard for all other kissable spots. In one of my all-time favorite Jess McDaniel photos, my very obliging baby pudding Bodie is about to get kisses on The Goosemeats, and big sister Hanne is onto something promising up top.

So this shoot was a bit different – Sara (mom) takes lots of gorgeous photos of her daughter all the time, but she has no photos of herself with her daughter (a situation I’m very familiar with). So this shoot was a time for us to get mommy/daughter pictures. I feel like I should have posted this a month or so ago before Mother’s Day instead of Father’s Day!
To start off, this is my absolute favorite shot from the day. Just love this.

And we got some sweet classic ones:

Sara had asked for some urban-style photos… so I talked this truck driver into driving behind this shot for me, just to up the “urban” feel… ;)

These guys were BOTH up for anything. Dancing on park benches, anyone?

Shoulder rides…

Even stopping for a rest and a cuddle. What’s better than that?

I had a wonderful time celebrating girls and mommies with you guys today. All your pics are coming soon!

OK, so I’m having so much fun getting to know a whole new batch of babies who’ll be my Sadie’s age as they get bigger. I have this whole “generation” of children born about 3 1/2 or 4 years ago that I’ve had fun taking pictures of over the years, managing to remember their ages pretty well because they match up with my Annie. And now I get a whole new group! Does this mean I need to keep having children every few years? ;)
But this lovely lady was a treat at 5 weeks old:

Giving her mama some sweet smiles:

I love her eyes in this one – aren’t they pretty?

And I had to include this one because her nose is just too adorable!

And cuddled in a blanket, I love the hands:

The inevitable breakdown, of course:

And those tiny fingers wrapped around her mom’s finger – I love how this one shows how very very tiny she is right now.
So wonderful to meet you – thanks for a great photoshoot.

A year or so after college, Carole and I lived together with another good friend, and thinking back to the fun and crazy times in that apartment in Brighton, I don’t think we’d ever have guessed we’d someday have girls the same age. She and her husband welcomed their second daughter earlier this year, and her big sister was very excited to show her off to me:

Aren’t they both just gorgeous? The 4 year old big girl and her baby (almost 5 month old) sister:

Now, again, if you know these guys, don’t mention it to Erik (the girls’ dad) because it’s a Father’s Day surprise, OK? We wanted to get some sweet mommy/daughter pictures to give to Erik for his first Father’s Day as dad of two:

I think we did pretty well :)

Not to mention tons of great ones of the girls:

Couldn’t you just eat her up?

And we wiped the baby out, completely. Big sister was very tender with her when we went to visit her upstairs after she’d fallen asleep.

Carole, thanks so much for having me come take pictures – I can’t wait to hear what Erik thinks in a couple of weeks!
This past weekend, I was lucky enough to meet three different families in the Public Garden for photos three days in a row. I even got a street parking space two of the three days… how’s that for parking karma?
This gorgeous girl’s mama remembered to bring bubbles, and we started off playing a bit with those in the sun. I love this pensive one best.

And M loved jumping around with some help from her mom:

And she zipped across the walkway at one point, going to check out something important on the other side… but when her mom asked her to show us her belly button, she obliged :)

Isn’t she lovely?

A sweet hug for Manhattan, her beloved piggy:

Hanging out with Robert McCloskey’s ducks (and on a sunny Saturday in June, it was tough to get a shot where three of the ducks weren’t being ridden by happy toddlers, believe me!)
So great to meet you guys!

I love this shot of this guy sitting on his mom’s lap. Isn’t he a handsome guy?

Love the fingers here, looks like he’s trying to explain something hilarious to us:

Quizzical:

Getting a tickle from mom and dad:

And then I can’t decide if I like the dad tossing J in the air picture better…

Or the mom one… They’re both adorable. It was wonderful to meet you guys!
