In my line of work, sometimes it’s fun to give myself little challenges – little things that I keep an eye out for when I’m shooting. One of those things is the elusive dog lick picture. I love a good dog-licking-baby picture – and getting the dog’s tongue just the right amount out of his mouth while the baby’s also at that perfect moment where they’re not too annoyed by the attention…
The fun thing here is if you click this “dog licking baby” link and get to a bunch of shoots where I’ve had dogs licking babies (yes, it’ll look at first like it’s not going anywhere, because you’ll see this post again – but scroll down, that link shows all the posts I’ve ever tagged with dog lick), the next post down after this one will be of this same pup: Harry, with his beloved little sister E. Our first shoot was back when she was just three weeks old, and now she’s three months old.

We did these pictures just an hour before her baptism this weekend, and she was just a perfect angel for the photoshoot.

Even with very little sleep the night before, she giggled and played…

And showed us how big she is on her mom’s pretty chaise – much bigger than last time, already!

Reading Christmas books with mama:

Love that she’s peeking at her “1st Christmas” ornament here!

Mama and daughter in their pretty Christening dresses:

She did catch a wink before the big event…

Grandma’s pretty hands with baby E:

With her Godmother and Godfather, in her Christening gown and bonnet that her mom, uncle and grandma all wore…

Big cousin, with her fantastic hairdo and dimple:

And last of all, grandma with her three pretty girls:

Loved seeing all you guys! Hope the big event was a huge success :)

Over Thanksgiving weekend, this sweet 4 1/2 month old guy had a huge crowd around – lucky guy. But first he got to get some pictures with just his mom and dad:

With mom and dad:
And with his grandparents:

And the whole team:

Wonderful to see you guys! It’s exhausting being the star of the show.

Perhaps the best yawn picture EVER.

And maybe the best hand/wrist/mid-arm etc. rolls too. Delish.

Now I normally have an aversion to upside-down pictures of babies lying down for some reason. I think they can be confusing to look at, as a viewer, but this one makes me smile so much I had to include it. Come on now, isn’t he incredible?

Again, breaking my upside-down rule. But loving this one too. (I guess J’s not officially upside-down here, but the way his parents are looking at him is upside-down, and I sometimes find this doesn’t work, but this one totally does.)

Love the wall decor :)

Mama’s hilarious.

So fun to meet you guys, thanks for having me out!

E checked out her new brother B’s toes, and confirmed – p.u.! Or maybe not, but at least it made her giggle. E is just 25 months older than her now one month old brother – so they narrowly missed membership in my exclusive two under two club – but I think maybe we can grant them honorary membership for a bit.

Especially when hangout time with the two of them includes moments like this:

And a few of just the little dude:

He looks SOOO much like his sister in this next one:

Loved seeing you guys! xo

I got to meet this guy as a bonus a few weeks ago, when I was shooting the three cuties just above this post… their mama (the auntie) gave this guy’s mama (the niece) a mini-shoot, and boy, was I lucky! I mean, come on now…

I am in love with the tattoo on mama’s wrist here, so perfect. If it’s hard to see here, it says “paix”.

Even the shy moments were perfect:

Wonderful to meet you guys!

Are you kidding me with the matching grins? And he’s only 4 months old. Wait, even better – she’s only TWO. Love, love, love this.

Once we got outside this peanut hopped up on the BIG GIRL SWING (yes, you read that right) and proceeded to swing all the way up to the clouds, like the adventurer she obviously is. Don’t you love how tiny she is against this huge swingset? Ringlets flying.

Wonderful to see you guys as always!

When I first arrived to see these two brothers last weekend, almost 3 month old Z was exhausted. But that meant we got this picture, which I am just in love with… (avoiding ending my sentence with a preposition by using ellipses… my middle school grammar teacher would be horrified)

But then when he perked up, big (almost 3 year old) brother J insisted on sharing his favorite Fire Truck book:

A few of just the big man first, as he concentrates 0n his car:

Leaping into a pile of pillows:

Or tossing a friend into the fray:

And now, introducing Z:

Daddy, look at ME :)

Great to see you guys again!

Don’t you just love how this little sweetheart opens her mouth so wide to smile for us? With her cute little tongue peeking out?

Having some fun with Dad:

And then, wait, not so sure about what Dad just suggested…

Love this, with mama looking on…

We got to pop outside at the end of the shoot — a girlie and her mama again:

Flying!

Great to meet you guys!

And for me, of all the fantastic expressions, this one takes the cake – eyebrow raise/splayed fingers and extra arm/leg rolls and all :)

But actually, the whole shoot was full of awesome expressions:

See what I mean?

But J seemed nonplussed when presented with Dad’s tongue…

But he was easily won over.

I just love this pensive profile:

WIth his lovely mama:

And then some knuckle dimples…

His mom’s necklace was his favorite:

It was wonderful to meet you guys, thanks so much for having me out!

I mean, sometimes books are just so good, I know – I totally DEVOUR them too. For sweet 7 month old girl L, Margaret Wise Brown’s Goodnight Moon is one of those books.

Isn’t she a beauty?

Shhh, daddy!

Love the tongue here :)

Great getting to know you guys!

When this little beauty’s mama emailed me about her photoshoot, she warned me that her daughter (and I’m quoting here) “has a ton, and I mean a ton, of hair ;)”
I loved it. She’s gorgeous, and the hair is fabulous.

We started off with barrettes to tame it – that looked great too:

But at a certain point we just had to go for it :)

Those toes need a lick…

And I was JUST talking about Sophie the giraffe with someone recently – a universal fave:

Kind of her to lift her foot to leave a spot for the logo, don’t you think?

And I just love this mama girlie pic:

Wonderful to meet you guys, thanks for having me out!

We found him! The winner of every imaginable eyelash-length contest out there. And to think he lived here in Boston, all this time :) I loved getting to know little six month old R yesterday. Even though he’d kept his parents up all night the night before – he did wonderfully in his pictures! But don’t take my word for it…

His favorite place is his changing table – you can even catch sight of the eyelashes in this one ;)

Isn’t he handsome?

Hollering with Dad:

I love how his eyes twinkle in this one as he looks off at his mama.

And then there comes a time when… we’re done. But you did such a great job, R!

I loved coming back to see this sweet boy after we did his 3 month pictures back in March. Now he’s a big 8 month old boy with a fantastic profile…

Incredible eyes:

Excellent standing skills (and the gummy smile):

The best pointed toes (yes, this is all ab muscle holding these feet in this position!):

See what I mean about the pointed toes?

And I just love this toothless little expression… somehow when babies without teeth close their little mouths they have the best little tight lipped expression…

Love the tootsies.

And hammock pictures are always a challenge – somehow they weren’t with D – he was perfect. Love the double chin here.

And of course, a big sloppy kiss.

Remember rat-tail hairdos from the 80′s? This sweet girl sports the most adorable one I’ve ever seen. Well, I’m biased, because she’s my college roommate’s daughter, and I just adore every bit of her – but the rat-tail is the cutest little thing ever. I’ll save the rat-tail photo for the end and start with this sweet eyebrow raise:

Reminds me of Austin Powers here ;)

With her pretty mama, even though I promised I wouldn’t include her in these…

Quizzical :)

Dimple! Not to mention arm rolls. Delish.

Perfect tootsies. Had to edit out a bit of sock lint, but I don’t judge ;)

AND… drumroll please… the famous rat-tail.

Lovely, perfect, beautiful 4 month old sweetheart. So fun to see you, my sweet. Big smooch.
P.S. Is there a hyphen in rat-tail? Rattail looks wrong…?

I am officially obsessed with this shot of 3 month old S – her perfect pout is killing me!

And I’m also loving the giggles with her mama:

With her handsome big brother T:

A grab for mama’s finger:

In her pretty headband, with a sweet smile:

Aren’t the expressions incredible?

Big brother T saying his goodbyes as I was heading out:

And one last one of the pink princess, a lovely girl, lovely smile.
