Now it’s possible Harry the fabulous black lab was overly affectionate during my visit last Friday, but it’s also possible he showers his new sister E with this many kisses all day every day. He is enamored, and I think it’s possible he’s spent the last month with E giving her as much love as he possibly can. Happy 4 week birthday today, E, sorry these pictures took me all week to get to you!

I mean, come on now – aren’t the licks just perfect? E really didn’t seem to mind too much, except maybe in this next one, as her eyes tell Daddy she’s maybe not having as much fun with the licks as she was before :) I do love dog/baby kissing pictures. Whenever I get a good one, I tag the post, so if you like them too, there are more here (keep scrolling down the page after you click to see the other ones).

So back to the beginning. When I first arrived, baby E was snoozing on mama, but we had to grab a quick shot of her on this gorgeous antique chaise (is this a chaise?) with dragonflies on it. She’s so tiny snoozing here.

But I should let you get a good look at her. Isn’t she just perfect?

Getting some sustenance.

Relaxing on dad in her favorite hat from the delivery room.

Hanging out with mama:

Tiny toes!

With her uber-helpful awesome grandmother.

Three generations of ladies:

It was such a pleasure to meet you guys! Thanks for having me out to meet your sweet girlie.

Favorite, favorite, favorite! I love this one so much.

But this one’s pretty great too.

Wait, wait, I actually love this one a lot too.

The curls on big sister aren’t to be believed.

And the grins on little brother are pretty fantastic too.

These two are really close in age – less than 2 years apart. So although when we did these photos big girl K was (just barely) 2, I’m sneaking them into my two under two category for this blog post, because I know what a challenge it is for parents who have children that close in age, and it’s fun to see photos of other families who’ve done the same.

Great to see you guys again!

Having a hard time choosing a favorite of these two girls from a few weeks ago. We started out at their house near the Boston Public Garden, and the inside ones are so sweet…

Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t we have a great piano picture from S’s first shoot years and years ago? Love this, now that she can actually play :)

But then we zipped outside to the Public Garden and got wonderful ones outside too… I’m loving this messy-haired real sister moment here…

Wait up!

Wonderful to see you guys as always!

These guys were in the 11th spot of the day on my charity fundraiser Public Garden family mini-shoot day, and they were incredible. It was fun for me to meet a new family – and these two kids have such a great time together. That and the sun peeking through the 3pm trees here is awesome:

Aren’t they a good looking crew?

Tickling the neck:

And I love love this one of dad and his big boy:

Such wonderful grins here, and mom and dad in the background here are the best.

When you’re two and a half, your new brother’s toes in your face are pretty hilarious:

S’s new brother J is just getting to the point where the smiles are flowing freely – we got tons of them during our photoshoot:

A twinkley-eyed boy:

Dad and J, making the same face. I love this so much.

Dad also drew a killer backhoe. The things I don’t draw often with two girls at home…

And a calm moment with little J – wrist rolls and all:

S with his beloved “jabba”, staring lovingly up at Dad:

Teenie J tootsies:

The boys together – I love how interested S is, and how their eyes are locked on each other in this shot.
It was a treat to spend time with you guys last weekend, and so fun to get to know your boys. So many other cool pictures to show you, can’t wait!

As I was looking back through this photoshoot from Tuesday, trying to pick my favorite shots for the blog, two themes emerged with this big one year old girl. Before I get into themes and all that “I’m working on my homework for junior high” stuff, I have to show you my favorite shot from the session, which happened mere moments after I walked in the door.
As she peeks over at me, doing her crinkle-nose smile:

Where was I? Oh yes, themes. So the first theme that emerges was definitely this sweet girl’s love of her monkey stuffed animal. Here she is, excited to see him as she crawls across the bed:

And this is my 2nd favorite shot from the day – as her dad and she enjoy a hug with monkey:

For her birthday party, she donned this fantastic monkey hat (found by her cool mom on etsy.com… what a fun site!):

And the other theme that emerged, by far, was the extraordinary love of books and reading for this little one. Here she is, piled in amongst her Sandra Boynton (and other) books.

Had to get a knuckle picture – the dimples kill me:

Bright-eyed after her morning nap :)

Reaching… reaching…

The Curious George balloon was no match for herself in the mirror:

Reading another book with mama – loving those toes:

It was wonderful spending some time with you guys, and fun to meet another Milton family!

My six month old is doing the same thing little Z is doing here in this picture – she’s chewing anything and everything she can get in her mouth. It’s as if she’s saying, “Daddy, I’ve got these teeth coming in, and they’re really hurting me… do you have anything at all that I can chew on to make them feel better?… Really?…Definitely, I’d love to chew your nose.”

Isn’t she gorgeous? Do you believe the eyelashes?

And we had to get one in the winter hat, of course. The tongue here cracks me up:

And when grandparents are nearby at photoshoots (these ones generously lent us their house for the shoot), I love to grab a picture of them, too. The back of granddad’s hand is as big as Z’s whole face here!

And can’t forget pretty grandma, either:

Do you recognize the polka dot pattern in this next picture? Yes, it’s Z’s coat, that she was wearing in that picture with her grandma right up there. And her silly dad has it on his head. Anything for a giggle! (And as you can see, it worked.) I love that you see the whole scene here :)

Giggles, a cute belly, and mama.

And then we popped everyone on the couch for a quick shot before we headed outside.

And Z needed an outfit change before we went out. I love this moment of two daughters and their moms. Everyone with a grin.

I love all the smiles in this one:

And here we have four generations of beautiful women! Amazing. What a treat to grab this shot. I loved meeting you guys, thanks so much for having me out.

So I’ve developed a little obsession with this picture as I’ve been editing them… I want a Resees Cup! I love E’s expression as she anticipates the next bite :)

Here are the two cuties together – great expressions here, too!

Look at that big boy!

And who has the twinkliest (is that a word?) eyes ever?

I really love this, as they look through Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree together:

And I’m really liking this one, and the sort of documentary-style moment it captures…

Dad and his little guy:

And a kiss for mama:
So fun to see you guys again!

I always have to hand it to families who go for the two under two thing – it is so much work, and though I’m sure the rewards are innumerable, I’m always just straight up impressed by them. This fun family was no different. Big sister M is 19 months old, and little bro A is 3 months old.

One of the things that made M happiest during the photoshoot was the stickers her dad was handing to her. So what’s sweeter than her giving them to her brother? All the cool kids wear stickers, don’tcha know? (She pulled this one off her own belly to give to him. True love.)

I love this one of A, with M in the background stickering herself:

They have the most gorgeous eyes, both of them:

A smooch for dad:

There were some tickles for everybody, but A saw right through it. He looks like he’s saying, “You know, I know what you’re doing over there…”

And we zipped outside for a few shots. Every dad/kid combo has a different tossing-child-in-the-air style, and these guys went for pure height. I love how much air she caught. She loved it too :) Looks almost like those sweet pointed toes are standing on Daddy’s hands up there:

And I love this mid-ball-toss moment. Keep your eye on the ball!

Silly faces with Mama:

And the toy we can all agree is awesome… the small ball:

And every day these guys wait on their front porch for Dad, so this is what he sees when he walks up from the train. This makes me smile. I loved getting to know you guys, thanks for having me out!

I’ve been taking pictures of these guys since big girl A was just a babe (do I start too many blog posts this way? I’m sorry, I just LOVE this part of my work – seeing babies grow)…
But we saw the arrival of little sister R, and various xmas photos along the way… and now big boy B has grown and grown and I finally got to see his cuteness this past weekend. Look at the grins on the three of them!

Since we were mostly celebrating B’s arrival with this shoot, we got to spend some special quiet time taking pictures of just him (his tongue and hair are the best):

And his big loving sisters can’t get enough of him:

Some quiet mommy time:

And giggling Daddy time:

And a little non-traditional family shot. The girls had to show me their dance moves. They’ve got style! :) Can’t wait to show you the rest of the pictures. It was wonderful to meet your little guy, thanks for having me back :)

A quick break from the contest… I got to go meet new baby S last Friday, and I’m excited to show her parents these sweet photos. I’ve been taking pictures of big brother M since he was a newborn, just the same size as his new sister. He’s such a loving big brother – very good with his sister. And I’m loving this picture of the two of them. We so often focus (ha ha, no pun intended) on getting smiling pictures of our children, but this one is so nice, don’t you think? They really look alike here, and they’re so content and happy together.

This next one is the kind of picture I love – I can see it hanging on the wall for a long time… as the kids get bigger and bigger they’ll once in a while notice how tiny they once were, belly rolls and cute toes and all.

But I love smiles, too. What a sweet girl!

And obviously already adoring her big brother. Don’t you love the position of her hands in this one?

A kiss from dad:

And a hug from mom:

We had to zip outside for a few quick pictures – amazingly, we caught a bit of sun! So fun to see you guys and welcome your new addition. Congrats again :)

So I’m technically on maternity leave, due with my 2nd little girl in a week. But the wonderful Steve Roslonek (of SteveSongs and PBSkids fame) and his fantastic wife Lori were in town for a show with their gorgeous 18 month old son, and so I had to make an exception. Especially because Steve gave me and Annie some tickets to the show before the shoot. Annie was in HEAVEN :)

After Steve did the show, we went outside to a nearby playground and played around like crazy:

Look at this handsome boy:

Getting a lift from Mom and Dad:

A sweet smile on the swings with Mom:

And giving his dad some tickles right back:

So, 39 weeks pregnant or no, today was totally worth it. Annie was an absolute trooper through the whole thing, playing around the playground as we shot… and just happy to be in the presence of her idol. She listens to Steve’s music every night before bed – I really can’t speak more highly of his fabulous music, it’s really wonderful. And so I had to grab a shot of her with Steve. If I’m not careful she’s going to make me print it poster-size for her room. :)

B loved it when his dad tickled him – aren’t the rolls the best here?

And I’m in love with this shot for some reason – the light across his cheeks and around those fantastic arms is so pretty:

A nice daddy moment:

And I love how B’s face is totally obscured here – giving his mom a big smooch:

Isn’t he a handsome little guy?

I think this one’s my favorite family shot, though:

But this one’s pretty nice, too :) Great to meet you guys – tell Emily thanks for the referral! All your pictures are just about ready – I’ll send you an email with details.

These guys had gotten a gift certificate for a photoshoot last year when L was born, and now he’s a big one year old boy getting tossed from Dad to Mom:

He loves the swings:

And the Sox, of course:

And I love the boyish movement of this one. The sand falling from his fingers… it just says little sweet boy to me:

And a good spin with mom never hurts:

Honk! It was great to meet you guys. All your photos are ready and I’ll send you an email now about how to get to them.
