Tuesday tips: Create perspective

It’s nice to include other elements in a photo of your teenie new baby, to help with perspective. So though you’re tempted to zoom in really close to get all those tiny parts documented, take some standing back a bit to show your new little person in the context of other big things – you’ll be amazed how tiny he or she looks in a few months when you look back at the pictures.

Tuesday tip: Just keep shooting

Just because the experience taking pictures of your kids isn’t going as you’d hoped, you may as well keep shooting. You might get something really worth keeping. AHHHHHH!

5 weeks old and getting a kick out of his parents

The best part of this sweet little 5 week old guy is how engaged his eyes are in every picture, just adoring everything his parents do with him:

Even when he was VERY hungry…

And then he got a leeeetle sleepy…

But not before showing us a perfect pout:

Zzzzz….

Welcome little guy – so great to meet you all!

Three brothers, one year later

They got a new house, and we got to do another photoshoot :)

After their move this winter, these guys decided it was time for more pictures, and I was thrilled to get the chance to see them again.

I mean, how fantastic does it get?

And one of his signature ear pull/finger suck, just for posterity…

Run!

Defense needs some work…

Handsome middle brother R:

Also handsome big brother B:

Family energy – I love.

And we also got this one without the nerf gun aimed at me, but this one’s more fun :)

Great to see you guys!

Pictures are beautiful Jess, thanks again!

Tuesday tips: Sibling smooches

In honor of Valentine’s Day – getting that moment of impact on a smooch picture can be a challenge. But as is often the case, if you shoot a lot, you might end up with a winner just before or just after the moment of contact. Don’t disregard the buildup or the aftermath of sibling kisses – both are often as fantastic as the kiss itself.

Tuesday Tips on Facebook

Did you know I started something new this year? Every Tuesday I post a tip on my Facebook page about taking better pictures of your own kids at home.  Just “like” the Boston Baby Photos Facebook page and it’ll appear in your feed.

Enjoy!

Tuesday tips: Everyday stuff

Get someone else to take a picture of you doing everyday things with your kids. These’ll be the pictures they’ll go back to someday to remember how young YOU looked, and how much fun they had with you. Yes, the kids are adorable at this age, but even if some days you don’t feel it, so are you.
